About D.W. Belfield

Derek Belfield was born in Abilene, TX, on May 24th, 1992. He grew up all over Texas but calls Dallas home.

Derek grew up with a voracious appetite for books. From an early age, he read everything from Harry Potter to Dune, falling in love with rich literary universes with deep worldbuilding.

His first foray into writing came when he was injured during his senior year of high school and needed to drop out of the varsity wrestling team. He started writing poetry, and Texas Poet Laureate Alan Birkelbach selected his work to win the Frisco Public Library’s yearly poetry contest.

In 2012, Derek joined the United States Marine Corps. He was stationed in Okinawa, Japan, for five years and discovered a love for travel and Asian culture. He attended American Military University and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Intelligence Studies, Cum Laude.

By 2019, Derek underwent two major surgeries that would eventually cause him to medically retire from the military. Once again, he turned to writing as an outlet, writing and publishing the first three books of the Scourge Wars. Each book was an Amazon #1 New Release and #1 Best Seller in Military Fiction.

In 2020, he left the Marine Corps and joined RallyPay as the Director of Operations, where he helps non-profits, power fundraisers, and political campaigns raise money for great causes.

Since then, Derek has written a successful web novel called The Path of Divinity and another Military Fiction series called The System Envoy.

Now, he’s a father to two boys and a husband to a beautiful and amazing wife. During the day, he serves as Chief Operating Officer for RallyPay, and at night, he’s writing a new series called The Apex Archives. His goal is to rewrite the Scourge Wars and The System Envoy and bring them into a shared universe.
